Today was the day I was dreading. As previously stated, as I run out of products, they’ll be replaced with natural alternatives. So today I ran out of deodorant. Womp womp. Most of the recipes circulating online are fairly similar, the one I chose was from the Cheap Like Me blog-
At Fresh Market, I picked up:
Coconut Oil (refined)
Tea Tree Oil
In a pan over low heat, melt 5 T of coconut oil. Remove from burner, then mix in 1/4 C corn starch and 1/4 C baking powder. Stir until it’s completely smooth and then add in your desired amount of tea tree oil. (I accidentally poured too much- probably about 10 drops, woops.) Some other recipes also call for lavender oil! Fresh market didn’t have it and I didn’t feel like driving around looking.
I poured the mixture into an old container and then popped it into the fridge to harden. (Where it remains as I’m writing this.)
Tomorrow will be the test of truth. Will report back soon.
So this really works. I was initially very shocked, but it has been 10 days and no problems.
The only thing, is that now it is getting hot in the apartment, and we have yet to turn on the air, it melts when left out… I might have to tweak the recipe. I’ve been keeping it in the fridge though and it’s been working out.
